Nearly 200 people braved brisk weather today for the naming of the intersection of Union Turnpike and 254th Street as Jack M. Friedman Way. Congressman Tom Suozzi, Councilman Barry Grodenchik, Assemblyman David Weprin, President Thomas J. Grech of the Queens Chamber of Commerce, Community Board 13 Chair Clive Williams, BJC Board member Jeff Berzon, other community officials, family and many friends gathered to remember the late president of the Queens Chamber of Commerce, Vice-President of Bellerose Jewish Center, board member of SNAP and many other organizations, and major Mets fan.
The intersection of Union Turnpike and 254th Street adjacent to Bellerose Jewish Center will be renamed in a ceremony at 11 a.m. on April 15th after Jack Friedman, former executive director of the Queens Chamber of Commerce and BJC Vice-President. The City Council approved the naming last November.
